Pogo Mine invites candidates to apply for our Mine Engineer position. This position works a 4 x 3 schedule. (Monday through Thursday at a remote camp site)

Reporting to the Senior Mine Engineer, the Mine Engineer will assist in providing, communicating, and implementing underground mine designs and schedules for Pogo Mine consistent with safe practices, government regulations, and production targets.



The technical activities related to the Mine Engineer position may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Generate short term drift and fill stope designs;
  • Monitor design compliance and ground conditions with underground observations during stope advance;
  • Work with Senior Engineer to evaluate standard develop ground support and evaluate additional needs;
  • Assist short term planning engineer in development of weekly and monthly schedules;
  • Present weekly operations plans and communicate with others to be informed of actual mine conditions;
  • Perform volume calculations and assist in strategy for paste backfilling activities;
  • Other mine project and site duties as assigned.




Bachelor's degree in Mine Engineering or other related field is required.


Technical experience in underground mining or tunneling preferred. Experience and/or training in Vulcan, Gemcom, Mine Cad, AutoCAD or other mine design software package required.


Critical thinking skills and problem solving skills. Strong planning and organizational skills.  Effective written, verbal, and communication skills to satisfy operations support, training, safety, and electronic message transmission policies of the company.  Demonstrated computer skills in Windows environment with experience in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.


Ability to work in a team environment and adapt to changing priorities. Ability to assume increasing levels of responsibility. Proven ability to read, comprehend, and apply information from technical manuals and other reference materials. Ability to work in a team with a high regard for Quality and Environmental concerns and with a strong commitment to Safety and Safe Production.


An understanding of a wide variety of precious metals deposits styles.

Familiarity with high-grade, vein hosted gold deposits.

Have a realistic approach to defining economic targets on time and within budget.


Personal computer; underground mine vehicle; computer software (Vulcan, Mine Cad, AutoCAD, VnetPC, EPS, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Qualtrax, etc.); miscellaneous office equipment (copier, fax machine, etc.); and project specified equipment as needed (ventilation distribution equipment, ground support monitors and testers, etc.). This position requires independent visiting and monitoring of underground working areas.


A rotation schedule consisting of four days on/three days off at a remote campsite. Extreme conditions, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise from low to high decibels, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area.  Must wear Personal Protective
